Please enjoy this Guest Post from Kimberly over at a Night Owl. I have come to love her blog and I hope you get the chance to head over there and give her a peak as well! She always had some very awesome Thrifty Crafts!
Hi! I’m Kimberly from A Night Owl, a blog about the evening antics of a working mom! In my “spare time” I enjoy crafting, photography, thrifting, parties or a quick and easy recipe and have really enjoyed sharing this aspect of my life with others through my blog! I love to connect with new friends and would love for you to come by A Night Owl and introduce yourself!
I’m so thankful that Leah has asked me to share an “upcycle” project with you! Every week I share a “Thrifty Thursday” post of something that I’ve found at our local Goodwill that I have “upcycled” into something fabulous and usable in our home, and today it’s a chalkboard serving tray. I picked up this cute little silver tray from my local Goodwill a couple of months ago. It had quite a bit of wear, but at just $2, I couldn’t pass it up! I had bigger things in mind for it…
So a few weeks ago I finally got around to fixing her up! I cleaned the tray, used frog tape to tape off the inset of the tray, then taped newspapers to the outside to protect the edges.
Then just a couple coats of chalkboard spray paint and voila! A perfectly cute little chalkboard tray that looks adorable in our kitchen!
Now since I just painted the tray this afternoon, I still need to give it 24 hours to dry before using chalk on it. However, I can see something like a menu or cute saying in its future…
